November 2011

Dr Angie Lang was nominated to the Dental Board and taking a role in the Dental Tribunal next February - March. This will mean Dr Lang will be unavailable from the 27th February – 2nd March. However Dr Amanda Seigo and Hygienist Miriam McCluskey will still be available to see during this period.

We would like to advise all our patients who currently have their treatment done under the Chronic Disease Scheme through Medicare, that there is some uncertainty about the schemes’ future, and it may be ending at the end of 2011. There has been nothing confirmed by Medicare but a lot of media speculation. Make the most of your treatment planned benefits remaining incase this does occur.

May 2011

Dr Angie Lang's Invisalign update May 3: Today, I moved on to my second set of aligners. The first 2 weeks went quickly. I found that while I was getting used to wearing my first set of aligners I was biting the inside of my cheeks and clenching, but this has eased now. I have 16 weeks of treatment left for my upper teeth and 32 weeks left for my lower teeth. I haven't noticed a difference in the appearance of my teeth yet.
Dr Angie Lang is also attending Nobel Biocare's 2011 Scientific Symposium course. She will be seeing Dr Christian Coachman speak as well as many other international and local speakers. This course runs over 2 days and will cover all areas and aspects of Implant Surgery.

April 2011

Dr Angie Lang starts her Invisalign treatment. Invisalign uses "invisible" aligners or clear plastic plates to straighten teeth. The aligners are changed every 2 weeks, moving teeth in stages to achieve the final result. It is a great alternative to braces in many cases. Thanks to Dr Chrys Antoniou at Smile Design Miranda.
Dr Lang's feedback from day 1:  The aligners feel odd in my mouth but there is no pain. I am surprised that it hasn't affected my speech. I am told that the aligners feel very unusual for the first 2 days. I can already feel the movement of the teeth and it reminds me of how it felt to have had braces as a child. Getting used to having to take the aligners out at meal times. So far so good.
